Student Travel Grants

The organizing committee of the 2015 IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics is pleased to announce the availability of 2 grants to selected students, to attend the conference to be held in Mohonk Mountain House, New Paltz, NY, October 19 – 22, 2015. These grants will cover the cost of lodging (full board) and registration fees.

Travel costs will not be covered by these grants.

Students must be authors of an accepted paper in order to apply. We further encourage applications from women, under-represented minorities, and other under-represented groups of students.

Deadline
Student applicants should send their applications by Wednesday, July 15th, 2015. We plan to announce the awards by July 16th. Applicants can submit their application by sending an email simultaneously to Laurent Daudet (laurent.daudet@espci.fr) and Gaël Richard (Gael.Richard@telecom-paristech.fr), WASPAA 2015 general chairs, with « WASPAA 2015 student grant » in the subject.

Application Process
The student should provide her/his CV and a letter in PDF format, together with a recommendation from the student’s advisor.

The student’s letter should indicate

  • the academic status of the student;
  • which accepted paper (she/he) is author of;
  • how she/he would benefit from attending WASPAA, including which areas in the WASPAA program would impact the student’s research;
  • a brief summary of research interests and accomplishments;
  • a commitment to attend WASPAA 2015 if a travel grant is awarded.

The supervisor’s recommendation should describe

  • the applicant’s academic standing in the institution;
  • discuss why and how the applicant would benefit from attending WASPAA;
  • explain why the applicant is in need of the grant;
  • certify that the applicant will benefit from sufficient funds for travel expenses not covered by these grants (e.g. for travelling to/from Mohonk)

The full application should be submitted by Wednesday, July 15th, 2015.
