Abstract

A fundamental problem in acoustic signal processing is how best to use an array of loudspeakers to reproduce a sound field. In this paper we derive performance bounds on how well a given loudspeaker array can reproduce a plane-wave sound field within a spherical region of space. The development is based on spherical harmonics analysis.
